designing with bodega flowers
While I prefer to only use flowers grown by myself or a trusted farmer, today I wanted to play with flowers and I couldn’t wait! Its late January and there are no flowers blooming anywhere in the Northeast. So, I walked down the the corner and bought some bodega flowers. They were $5 a bunch, and they were beautiful. I fully believe in doing whatever you need to do in order to smile during the wintertime!
some tips for choosing and arranging flowers from the grocery store:
chose a color palette
chose a statement flower, accents, and greenery
when you bring the flowers home, put them right in water… even if its just your sink
remove any leaves that would be under the vase water line
give each stem a fresh cut
begin with the greenery to build the shape and add flowers
you can measure the stems against the vase before you cut to the length you want
who knew how beautiful carnations could be!
