Last summer I started to host “build your own bouquet happy hour” at local Cleveland businesses. They’ve become intimate and creative evenings with total strangers that I’ve totally grown to love. While I do not have social anxiety and I am not afraid to speak in front of people, I could still use some work in both areas and these events have helped me work through those things on a small scale. And it doesn’t hurt that having a glass of wine is encouraged at happy hour (or La Croix, no need to be a wine lover!)

I really appreciate everyone that has come out to these events to learn about flowers, make bouquets to take home and support local businesses by shopping during the event too! Every event I host has slightly different flowers available, which makes it even more exciting. You’ll never make the same exact bouquet.

The latest happy hour had a beautiful late summer mix and I wanted to share the bouquet recipe with you so that you could build your own bouquet in the comfort of your own home.

*The number with the flower type references how many of those stems belong in your bouquet.

  • cosmos 2

  • sweet annie 2

  • globe amaranth 3

  • snap dragons 2

  • white statice 1

  • pink statice 1

  • scabiosa 2

  • tall/large zinnia 1

  • medium zinnia 3

  • white lisianthus 1

  • pink lisianthus 1

  • champagne lisianthus 1

  • dahlia 1

  • flowering mint 2

Don’t forget to arrange the flowers in your bouquet to have different heights so that no blooms get covered up. You can arrange the flowers right in your hands and then plop them into a vase of your choice for a natural look. But before you place them into the vase, just hold the stems up to the vase to check to see if you need to cut the stems a little to fit properly. Once the flowers are in a vase just give them a little fluff and let them breath so they have room to fall naturally. Or, wrap the bouquet up and give it to a friend!
